There comes a point with every air conditioner where you stop paying for repairs and start paying for a problem. The compressor has failed on a unit that is well into its life, the gas keeps leaking from new places, or the room never feels properly cool no matter what is fixed. At that stage, AC replacement in Dubai is usually the cheaper and calmer option over the long run.
Replacing an AC properly is more than swapping one box for another. The new unit has to be the right capacity for the space, the pipework and drains have to be sound, and the electrical supply has to suit the new load. This page explains how we approach each of those, the replacement services we offer, and what to think about before you choose a new system.
No single sign settles it, but the more of these apply, the stronger the case for replacement:
If you are unsure, ask for an honest assessment. Our technicians will tell you if a repair still makes sense. Replacement is a significant cost and we would rather you spend it when it is genuinely needed.
Every replacement follows the same seven stages, whether it is one bedroom split unit or a full villa system.
A technician visits, checks the existing system, measures the space and notes sun exposure, ceiling height, access and the electrical supply.
We work out the cooling capacity the space needs and explain the suitable unit types and options, with the trade-offs of each.
You receive a quote covering the unit, installation, materials, removal of the old system and the expected timing.
Refrigerant is recovered from the old system before it is disconnected, then the indoor and outdoor units are removed.
The new units are mounted, refrigerant pipework and drains are connected or renewed, the system is pressure tested and vacuumed, and the electrical connection is made.
The AC is charged, started and run until it reaches temperature, with readings taken to confirm it is working as designed.
We show you how to use the controls, explain the servicing schedule, take the old equipment away and leave the area clean.
Capacity matters more than brand. An undersized unit runs flat out all summer and still struggles to cool the room. An oversized one cools the air quickly, switches off before it has removed enough humidity, and leaves the room cold but clammy, while wearing itself out by starting and stopping constantly.
The right capacity depends on more than floor area. Our survey takes into account:
Getting this right at the start is the single biggest factor in how well the new system performs and how long it lasts.
A non-inverter AC runs its compressor at full power until the room reaches the set temperature, switches off, then starts again when it warms up. An inverter AC varies its compressor speed, slowing down as the room approaches the target and running steadily at a lower output to hold it there.
In Dubai, where the AC runs for long hours, inverter units generally use less electricity, keep temperatures more even and run more quietly. They cost more upfront. Non-inverter units are simpler and cheaper to buy, and can still make sense for rooms that are used only occasionally. We explain the trade-off for your situation during the survey.
| System type | Best suited to | Things to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Split unit | Individual rooms in apartments, villas and small offices | Outdoor unit location, pipe route and drain point |
| Ducted or concealed unit | Villas and larger apartments wanting hidden units | Condition of existing ducts, ceiling access, return air |
| Central system | Large villas and commercial buildings | Plant location, load calculation, phased replacement |
| Cassette unit | Shops, restaurants and open offices | Ceiling void depth, condensate pump, even air spread |
In many cases the simplest route is a like-for-like replacement using the existing positions. Sometimes a different type serves the space better, for example replacing several split units in an open-plan area with a ducted system. We will recommend what fits, not what is easiest to sell.

View service →Sometimes. Copper refrigerant pipes that are in good condition, the right size for the new unit and compatible with its refrigerant can occasionally be cleaned and reused, which saves opening up walls. In many cases, though, new pipework is the safer choice, especially if the old lines are corroded, kinked, the wrong diameter or carried a different refrigerant type. We check and advise rather than assume.
For ducted systems, the ductwork itself can usually stay in place. It is a good moment to have the ducts cleaned and sealed before the new unit goes in, so the new system is not pushing old dust around the house from day one.
Before the old system is disconnected, the refrigerant is recovered into a cylinder rather than released into the air. The indoor and outdoor units, brackets and any redundant pipework are then removed, and we take the old equipment away with us. You are left with a clean space and nothing to dispose of yourself. Wall holes left by old brackets or pipe runs that are no longer needed are sealed, and we flag any areas that may need a paint touch-up.
Replacing air conditioning in a working office, shop or restaurant takes planning. We schedule work outside trading hours where possible, replace units in phases so part of the premises stays cool at all times, and coordinate with building management on access, lifts, rooftop permissions and noise restrictions. For larger sites, a site survey and phased plan come before any quote.
The cooler months, roughly November to March, are ideal. Installers have more availability, rooftop and balcony work is far more comfortable, and you are not left without cooling during the worst of the heat. Planning a replacement in winter also means you go into summer with a new system rather than nursing an old one through it.
That said, failures do not wait for the right season. If your AC dies in July, we can help get a replacement in quickly, and arrange a temporary fix where possible while the new unit is sourced.
Quotes for the same job can look very different, and the cheapest one is not always the cheapest in the end. Before you accept any quote, check that it clearly states:
A quote that leaves these out is not necessarily wrong, but you should ask about each one before comparing prices.
Yes, and it is often the right moment to do it. If a room has always struggled, has been extended, or now has more people or equipment in it, a replacement lets you fit a unit that actually matches the space. Upsizing may need a larger outdoor unit position, bigger pipework and an upgraded electrical supply, all of which we check during the survey. Going bigger than needed is not better, though, so any increase is based on the room, not guesswork.
A correctly sized modern unit, especially an inverter model, generally uses less power to deliver the same comfort than a worn system that has lost efficiency over the years. Old units with dirty coils, tired compressors and slow refrigerant leaks quietly burn extra electricity every summer. The actual saving depends on the units involved and how you use them, so we avoid promising a figure, but most customers notice the new system reaches temperature faster and runs more steadily.
Some signs that a replacement was rushed: water dripping from the new indoor unit within days, pipework left uninsulated or exposed to sun, an outdoor unit squeezed into a corner with no airflow, wiring taped rather than properly terminated, the old unit or brackets left behind, or a system that never quite cools as well as expected. If you see any of these on an installation by anyone, it is worth having it checked before the problems grow.
In most Dubai tenancies, replacing a failed AC unit falls to the landlord, although the tenancy contract has the final word. Tenants can contact us to assess the unit and provide a clear report showing why replacement is needed, which helps when discussing it with the landlord or the property manager. Landlords can book the survey and installation directly, and we coordinate access with the tenant so the work causes as little disruption as possible.
A planned replacement is calmer and usually cheaper than an emergency one. You can choose the unit without pressure, compare options, book the work for a convenient day and avoid a stretch of sleepless summer nights while a replacement is sourced. If your system is showing several of the warning signs above, booking AC replacement in Dubai during the cooler months gives you the most choice and the least disruption.
Not necessarily. In a villa or office with several units, it is common to replace only the ones that have failed or are clearly near the end, and keep the healthier units running. Where all the units were installed at the same time and are ageing together, replacing them in a planned sequence over a season can spread the cost while avoiding a run of breakdowns. We assess each unit individually and give you an honest view of which ones need attention now.
Each replacement is quoted after a survey. The main things that shape the price are the type and capacity of the new system, the unit range chosen, whether inverter technology is selected, how much new pipework and cabling is needed, the location of the outdoor unit and any access equipment required for roofs or high walls, electrical upgrades if the supply needs improving, and removal of the existing system. The quote sets all of that out clearly so you can compare like with like.
A new system is only as good as the care it gets. Regular servicing keeps the coils clean and catches small problems early, filters should be cleaned every few weeks in summer, and the outdoor unit needs clear space around it to breathe. Many customers put their new units straight onto a residential AC maintenance plan so the servicing happens without them having to remember it.

A single split unit replacement typically takes a few hours. Ducted, central or multi-unit replacements can take one or more days, and we give you a timeline with the quote.
It varies with the unit quality, how hard it works and how well it is maintained. Units that are serviced regularly last noticeably longer than those that are left until they fail.
If the unit is older and needs a compressor, keeps leaking gas or is badly corroded, replacement usually makes more sense. For a single fault on a unit in good condition, repair is normally the better value.
Yes. We can supply and install the replacement, and advise on the right type and capacity for the space during the survey.
Usually not. Indoor and outdoor units are designed to work as a matched pair, so mixing old and new components often causes poor performance or faults.
It depends on room size, sun exposure, glazing, ceiling height, floor level and how many people use the space. We calculate the right capacity during the survey rather than guessing from floor area alone.
For rooms used for long hours, they generally are, as they use less electricity, hold temperature more evenly and run more quietly. For rarely used rooms, a non-inverter unit can be a sensible saving.
Like-for-like replacements in existing positions usually involve minimal disruption. If new pipe routes or a different unit position are needed, we explain any making good required before work starts.
In many towers and communities, yes, especially for outdoor unit positions, rooftop access or work hours. We can coordinate with building management on your behalf.
Yes, if the property has suitable ceiling space and a route for ducts. We assess this during the survey and explain the work involved.
Yes. The refrigerant is recovered first, then the old units and redundant parts are removed and taken away.
Yes. We plan access in advance, including any lifting or access equipment and building permissions that may be needed.
Most new units use modern refrigerants that replace older types now being phased out. We match pipework and servicing to the refrigerant your new unit uses.
A correctly sized modern unit, particularly an inverter model, often uses less power than an old, worn system. The actual difference depends on the units and how you use them.
Yes. Multi-unit villa replacements are planned so the household keeps some cooling during the work where possible.
Yes. We replace AC in offices, shops, restaurants and other commercial premises, scheduled around trading hours and often in phases.
Clear space around the indoor and outdoor unit positions, arrange any building access or permits, and let us know about parking for the team.
We move as quickly as unit availability allows during the hot months, and can often arrange a temporary fix while the replacement is sourced.
It is strongly recommended. Cleaning the ducts before the new unit is installed stops old dust and debris being blown through the house by the new system.
WhatsApp or call +971 50 108 4133 with your property type, the rooms affected and photos of the current units, and we will arrange a survey.
